A little luxury in Europe
Luxury travel is not something I would necessarily always choose for myself but during a recent trip to Europe, I had the chance to stay at some very nice hotels. Glitz apart, none of them was perfect. Here is where I stayed.
Badrutt’s Palace Hotel, St. Moritz – Swiss
A ‘room with a view’ and old-fashioned service style. The Badrutt’s check-in was overwhelming, executed while walking to the room and perfectly timed by a trilingual guest relation officer. Even though the view from the tiny balcony over the lake was breathtaking, the room felt somehow small or just over furnished. Loved the bathroom amenities and yes, I did take some home. http://www.badruttspalace.com
Bauer Il Palazzo, Venice – Italy
Surprise upgrades are always welcomed. I couldn’t hope for a better start for this whirlwind trip to Venice and The Bauer set us up in one of the old rooms at the Palazzo. Great views from the window and a bathroom that seemed like a movie scene with Greta Garbo, golden faucets and all. Expensive aperitifs at the terrace lounge overlooking the Gran Canal and despite a lovely concierge service, we left with a disappointing breakfast at the ground floor. http://www.ilpalazzovenezia.com
